NEW TRANSPORT COUNCIL
APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED MR. R. SUITERS THE -CHAIRMAN. VALUABLE SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, April 27. Mr. W. A. Veitch, Minister of Transport, announced to-day that the following had accepted positions on the Transport Advisory Council: — Mr. R. Masters (Stratford), Government nominee and chairman of the council. Mr. H. C. Jones (Auckland), representative of the North Island Motor Union. Mr. H. Halliday (Dunedin), representative of the South Island Motor Union. Mr. G. A. Troup (Wellington), representative of the New Zealand Municipal Association. Mr. E. Smith (Christchurch), representative of the New Zealand Ma.'-r Carriers’ Federation. Mr. H. L. Rogers (Wellington), representative of the Wholesale and Retail Motor Traders’ Association of New Zealand. Mr, A. Parlane (Wellington), representative of labour engaged in transport work generally. - Mr. W. Morrison (Maxwell), representative of the New Zealand Counties’ •; Association. Mr. H. J. Knight (Wellington), representative of service car proprietors. Mr. L. A. Lonergan (Wellington), representative of motor omnibus proprietors. The -work of finalisation of the setting up of the council is now in hand, and it is hoped to call it together at an early date. . The Minister expressed himself as being highly satisfied with the council, which die was certain would bring specialised knowledge to the assistance of the Transport Department and himself, which Would be of immense value in solving the ■problems of transport, which would have to be tackled at an early date.
