WAIWAKAIHO BULL FAIR.
This popular annual sale, held oa Tuesday last by Messrs. Newton King Ltd., proved to be one of the best held at Waiwakaiho and was certainly one of the most successful of the series of fairs in Taranaki this season. The entry was a record, no less than 116 Jerseys being catalogued and also 25 Ayrshires. Of the former, eight animals failed to eome forward and only five were passed, the 103 sold averaging £l9, while thirty of the highest priced bulls averaged £29. The Ayrshire section contained 25 bulls and 17 of these were disposed of at an average of £lO JOs. A feature of the sale was the very keen demand throughout, tins being strikingly demonstrated by the fact that the total offering of i. 33 bulls was sold in five hours. Vendors for the most part brought their bulls forward in good condition, there being a much smaller percentage of poor conditioned animals than there has been at previous Waiwakaiho fairs, although the greater porton of the catalogue was yearlings, that is, in the Jersey section. Buyers were .in attendance from all parts of Taranaki and several commissions were executed for Waikato clients. The consistent demand throughout the sale and also the good prices realised indicated the ever-inereasng popularity amongst dary farmers of securing pedigree sires to put at the head of their fherds.
