MUNIFICENT GIFTS FOR HOUSING. British Official Wireless. - Rugby, Oct. 11. Sir Joseph Duvcen, who has already made magnificent gifts to England's art treasures and to ensure their adequate housing, has now, subject to certain provisions, offered firstly, a gallery for foreign sculpture at the Tate Gallery; secondly, an extension to the National Portrait Gallery to relieve the present inartistic overcrowding; and thirdly, funds to enable the trustees of the British Museum to provide a dignified setting for the Elgin Marbles and Nerid statues. Sir Joseph has already promised a sew gallery for Italian art at the National Gallery.
