! THE MOTOR REGULATIONS. (To the Editor). Sir,—ln common with most old motorists, I am quite in agreement with the general tenor of the new motor regulations, but I think that those in authority over us should take care lest in their zeal for our welfare and our two pounds they overstep the line of the necessary and pass on to unnecessary and burdensome regulations and our i cars become hung with gadgets. If a car has a rear light, why a reflector? If a reflector, why a rear light' Rear lights fail us without warning, we al! know. Will tl)is reflector be a valid excuse, if this does happen? If an ordinary driver with ordinary lights couldn’t pick up a car ahead, minus a tail light, in time to avoid a bump, lie shouldn't be on the road, so. why tile double precaution? Do accidents happen from this cause? I can’t recall any. Anyhow, it's a. small matter, and if it pleases our inspector to sec us decked out with mirrors, reflectors, signa! arms, etc., we can put up with it, as long as they don’t change the shape or colour of the red reflectors every vear. —I am, etc., ARTHUR J. SMITH. Okato, Jane 19.
