DEATH OF A SAWMILLER

CYCLING ACCIDENT THE CAUSE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Greymouth, Jan. 31. The death is announced of Thomas Baxter, a sawmiller, who about a week ago was cycling from Kumara. down a zigzag road when the forks of his ranchins broke, precipitating the rider upon his head, resulting in grave injury. He underwent an operation at the Grey River Hospital soon after admission, but the injury proved fatal, death taking place at 7.30 o’clock last evening. Mr. Baxter, who was born 59 years ago at Hokitika, had been identified with the sawmilling industry since its early stages on the Coast in partnership with his brother, William Baxter, now a resident of Manukau, Auckland.
