COMRADES IN ARMS.

CONFERENCE IN CANADA. By Telegra-ph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Ottawa, July 1. The British Empire Service League passed a resolution to make a further appeal to the British Government to correct the injustice to British pensioners whose pensions are payable in India and who desired it payable in the rupee currency instead of the sterling. A resolution from the Canadian delegates commended the principle of conscription in the event of war “of properties equally with the persons, lives and liberties of all citizens.” On the motion of Captain Walker (Irish Free State) the resolution was referred back to the constituent bodies of the league to be presented for discussion at the next conference. A recommendation that November II be set aside as a remembrance day throughout the Empire, except in Dominions where other arrangements have been made, was passed. Earl Haig paid a tribute to the overseas sections of the Emigre which con-, tributed generously to relief work in Britain through the poppy fund.
