ACCOUNTANTS’ SOCIETY.
THE TARANAKI BRANCH. REMITS FOR CONFERENCE. Members of the Taranaki branch of the- New Zealand Society of Accountants met at New Plymouth last night to discuss remits for the annual meeting of the society and general business. Mr. W. Power (Stratford) presided. “That the council draw up a minimum scale of fees for members of the profession,” was a remit adopted. Mr. Walkley reported that he had forwarded the remit to several branches and had been promised support at the annual conference. Another remit adopted was that the council continue to use its best endeavours to bring about a fusion of the recognised accountancy bodies in the Dominion, and if considered feasible, apply for a Royal Charter. The auditing of solicitors’ trust, accounts was discussed at some length, and it was decided that a remit be sent to the council recommending that it confer with the council of the New Zealand Law Society on the subject. A suggestion that a combined dinner of the members of the branch and the Taranaki Law Society would result in mutual advantage met with unanimous support, and Messrs. S. Neilson, E. Shaw and V. Duff were appointed a committee t<? confer with the council of the Law Society.
Mr. Hugh Daily was re-nominated as tie representative of the branch oa the New Zealand council.
