NEW PLYMOUTH ClSu®. JUBILEE SHOW ARRANGEM EN TS. A special general meeting of the New Plymouth Jersey Cattle Club was held yesterday to consider the allocation of trophies for the Jersey section of the local A. and P. Society’s Jubilee Show to be held in March of next year. Mr. IL C. Sampson presided over a fair attendance. Speaking to the proposal that a points prize should be awarded covering the various classes, the chairman said he favoured the giving of medals instead of a points prize, and that any funds the club had available should be utilised in the provision of the trophies. Several members had offered to donate certain turns. Mr. H. Lepper said he would like to see a jubilee medal given to each class as he was of the opinion that such an arrangement would cater for the small breeders. , The chairman stated that there were seventeen classes, but he suggested that the medals should be limited to only nine, thus eliminating the special classes. After further discussion it was derided to award a jubilee medal to each breed class, anil that medals valued at not less than £2 K’s be purchased. An amendment by Mr. P. J. Peterson that a points prize !>e awarded instead was lost on {he voices. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs H. C. Lepper, A. T. Wood and the secretary, was elected to procure quotations and to choose medals. The advisability of inserting a fourin the schedule was discussed, arguments being in favour of and against. On a vote being taken it was decided to forward a recommendation to the A. and P. Society that a class in which all animals between the age of four and five years, be inserted in the Jersey section of the schedule.
A letter was received from Messrs Wright .Stephenson and Co., Ltd., in which was enclosed a cheque for five guineas as a donation towards the cost oi a special jubilee trophy. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., for their donation. Mr. E. Griffiths also wrote offering through the club, prizes for the sons anti daughters of Xenia’s Oxford Lad as follows: Bulls, first prize £3, second £1; heifers, first prize £3, second £l. The payment of a subsidy to the A. and P. Society to make provision for prize money and the allocation of the amounts, was left in the hands of the chub's committee to decide. Another special meeting of members will be held next Friday to discuss the appointment of judges for the Jersey section in connection with the forthcoming show.
