As a sequel to a sensational stabbing affray at the Eden Social Club, in the Tottenham Court Road district, on September 23, Alfred Solomon, aged 31, was tried to-day for the murder of Buck Emden, a bookmaker, and with attempting to murder Michael Abelson, the club’s doorkeeper. Evidence was given that Blitz, alias Emden, and a man named Emmanuel quarrelled. The latter threw beer over Blitz, who retaliated with Iris glass, cutting Emmanuel’s head. Accused, who was a friend of Emmanuel, seized a carving knife and drove it deeply into Blitz’s head. The doorkeeper, Abelson, intervened to capture the knife, and was stabbed in the thigh. He is still crippled. A verdict of manslaughter was. returned, and Solomon was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
