NEW PLYMOUTH LEAGUE CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth League Cycle Club was held on Thursday evening. Mr. J. Bceates presided over a good attendance. The annual report stated that for the year ending August 31 there were 18 club members and 12 honorary members. During the season one sports meeting was held at Western Park, which, although poorly patronised by the public, was very - successful and provided a good afternoon’s sport. The meeting showed only a small loss. The banked track at Western Park was completed in September, several members each giving £5 for the purpose. There was still £4O owing on this account, which it was hoped to liquidate this season. The committee wished to impress upon the members the fact that the track was for their use, and that they should take an interest tn its upkeep. Club members had won £234 cash during the season, also the Mountain Race cup, Mantis cup, six gold medals, two bicycles and two sets of tyres. Club members also filled the first three places in the Mountain race. The prospects for the coming season were exceedingly bright, as there was a probability th|t a team of Australian riders would visit New Zealand during the season, and the club would endeavour to organise a meeting if they visited New Plymouth. The committee desired to congratulate members on the keenness, good sportsmanship and fine behavlQur shown during the season, and hoped that each present member would try and get a new member to join. The committee strongly recommended the incoming committee to encourage the young riders by arranging boys' races when possible. Thanks were extended to all Whn had assisted the club during the past season, and to the press. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £5 8s 9d.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The offleerfl elected for the ensuing year were as follow: President. Mr. F. J. Hill; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. G. Morgan, W. C. Weston, C. H. It was proposed that the honorary subscription for the ensuing year be decreased from 10s 6d to ss, but this was lost to an amendment to the effect that the subscription should be fixed at 7s 6d. The active members' subscription was fixed at 2s 6d, the srtijie ns In the previous year. The English Park Sports Association, Christchurch, wrote staling that they were bringing out two prominent cyclists from Australia for the coming Season, and suggested that they might possibly visit New Plymouth, If the dates arranged were suitable. The association was in touch with several clubs In the North Island, and thought that perhaps it would he possible to arrange a circuit for the visitors. Mr. Sceates stated that he had replied to the letter, giving the dates of important meetings in and about New Plymouth, and expressing the dub’s wish to have the visiting cyclists in New Plymouth. The question of insuring riders was discussed, and it was eventually decided that inquiries should be made among the Insurance companies with the object of insuring riders for the sports meetings.
