IMPRESSIONS IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Preas Association. Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward, who returned from Australia to-day, was struck with the advance and expansion of Australian cities, particularly Sydney and Melbourne, He spoke of the danger of drawing too many people from the country to the which would be an awkward problem to solve. He spoke of the currency question. He said that if the note issue, the limit of which was fixed, was greatly extended there was a fear that there would he an inflation in values. Referring to the high exchange rates which had aggravated the position in Australia and New Zealand, he said this was having a prejudicial in all parts where the conditions prevail. “This question of exchange must be grappled with on a new basis,” said Sir Joseph. He declined to discuss politics.
