HOPE FOR EUROPE.
REPARATIONS AGREEMENT
SOLUTION EXPECTED SOON. ACCEPTABLE 'TO POWERS. WAY TO NEW ERA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 19, 8.25 p.m. New York, March 18. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says President Coolidge informed correspondents that an amicable settlement acceptable to France and the other countries involved is very near on the basis of the considerations which are being prepared by the commission which is examining the question of reparations. Mr. £. E. Hughes (Secretary for State) has received daily advices of the progress of negotiations, and he too holds the opinion that there will shortly be a full agreement on all vital points. President Coolidge indicates that he would not wish to raise false hopes, because the situation is such that it is dangerous to draw definite conclusions, but the best information indicates that the long standing European dispute will be adjusted, with the resulting stabilisation of conditions and prosperity.
