ANOTHER SCHOOL BURNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Whakatane, Dec. 27. The school building at Waingarara was burned down on Christmas Eve- It was an old building erected by the settlers 20 yeans ago. The origin of the fire is unknown. BLAZE AT MATIERE. Taumarunui, Doc. 27. An extensive fire at Matiere early yesterday morning destroyed J. Jones’ fehop, Roberts’ general store, and Bank of Australia. Imilding. A bucket brigade Vaved a butcher’s shop and Roberta’ produce store. The insurances were: Roberts' stock £5OOO, premises £lOOO. The origin of the fire is unknown.
