As the result of collaboration between Dr. Hunter, Professor of Anatomy in Sydney University, and a prominent specialist, a remarkable operation ha« been conducted in Sydney Hospital for the treatment of certain forms of paralysis. The first patient treated was a returned soldier. The operation, which was completely successful, consisted in the severing of the involuntary nerves from the voluntary nervous system. The rigidity of the limbs immediately disappeared, and freedom of the affected limbs soon re-asserted itself. Now the patient is able to maintain his erect posture and walk up and down stairs with a minimum amount of disability.
