In connection with the British Government’s notification to Afghanistan that, unless the latter surrenders the murderers of British officers, Britain will withdraw her legation from Kabul and clotf the Khyber Pass, it is impossible to tty what the next move will be. While it is insisted that the Amir m»t keep his promise to track down the frontier murderers, it is denied that freeh troops will be necessary, as there are already sufficient men and aeroplanes on the spot to safeguard the British positiottIn view of the widespread anxiety regarding the safety of British officers and their families, the India Office has issued a statement detailing the elaborate precaution taken to protect isolated station!, and declaring that these preclude any cause for apprenhension as to the safety of British women.
