Mr. L. B. Inch, of New Plymouth, paified in property II and evidence at the recent law examinations. A London cable states that Prine® George, on attaining his twenty-firet birthday, received the Order of the Garter. At a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Stratford Technical High School on Friday night, Miss Ailsa Ewing was selected for the position of home science mistress from five applicants. A London cable announces the death of Sir Lambert Ormsby, aged 78. He W BB born at Auckland, being the son of Mr. GO. Ormsby, at one time Surveyor-General of New Zealand. ' The members of the New Plymouth Choral Society who recently visited Wellington, on their return to New Plymouth, presented a fountain pen to MrR. Day (secretary of the society) as an expression of appreciation of the excellent arrangements he made for them in connection with the journey both to and from Wellington. Mr. G. M. McLeod, of the teaching staff of the Palmerston North Central School, who is leaving to go farming in Taranaki, was entertained last week by his associates and on their behalf was presented with a silver cake dish.
Mr. C. K. Holt, postmaster of Stratford, has just received notification-of his appointment as Chief Postmaster at Oamaru. Mr. Holt joined the service 32 years ago at Oamaru, and has held responsible positions at Wellington. New Plymouth, Invercargill, and Elthajn, prior to going to Stratford two yetf* ago.
