SOCIETY DIVORCE CASE.
HEAVY DAMAGES CLAIMED. EVIDENCE OF BUSINESS RIVALRY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received Nov. 13, 8.25 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 13. The case was continued in which Francesco Lubrano di Negozio, a prominent shipping agent, residing at Darling Point, is seeking a divorce from his wife on the ground of misconduct with Lugi Vitali, the Italian Consul, from whom £5OOO damages are claimed. The respondent, generally denying the charges, gave evidence that on one occasion her husband asked her: “Do you think there is any way we can get together and ruin Vitali? I must ruin this man.” On another occasion he told her: “You know I do not hold you guilty. I know nothing against your ciiaracter, but I must get Vitali out of the country.” This followed upon her husband mentioning that Vitali had obtained a certain shipping agency and had thereby got his job. It was when he found that Vitali did not leave the country that he commenced the divorce proceedings.
