KEEPING FIT.

LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN. CAMP AT NEW PLYMOUTH . The annual camp at New Plymouth of the Legion of Frontiersmen has commenced. As in previous years, the legion are indebted to the Taranaki Jockey Club for granting the use of the main grandstand for training quarters, and here the men are comfortably installed, being provided with sleeping accommodation, a large lecture hall and a kitchen block. Although it is not compulsory for comrades to sleep in camp, or to put in the whole of their time there, a fair number are already assembled, and, with new arrivals expected to-day, it is anticipated that men from the Ati Awa North Taranaki, Parihaka and Rahotu troops will be present. Generous gifts of vegetables, fresh meat and game have made their appearance, and the kitchen staff have splendid arrangements made. Drill and shooting take precedence in the training, and in the evenings interesting lectures will add greatly to the pleasure of the camp routine. On Monday evening, prior to breaking camp, a social evening will be field. In (the past excellent talent has been secured and this year’s concert promises to eclipse all previous efforts Yesterday the men spent a profitable day on the Rewa Rewa range, practising for to-day’s /competition. The lecture last night was a description of the fighting round La Basse Ville by Col. C. H. Weston D. 5.0., colonel of the squadron, and this evening Squad S.M. Andrew will lecture on modern weapons. On Sunday the squad will attend church parade and during the afternoon the usual squadron conference will take place. “Break up and clear up are the standing orders for Tuesday, when the men will disperse to their various homes.
