FIRE IN A MINE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Grey mouth, Last Night, The Blackball mine, which was sealed up some time ago, following an outbreak of fire, was unsealed to-day, but it was found still to be heated inside. Water i* now being played in the eastern area, but developments remain uncertain. THE PENSIONS REPORT. Wellington, Feb. 2. Mr Massey states that the report of the Pensions Committee will not be published until it has been laid on the table of thex House. It is. not yet decided whether it will be presented during the sesion which opens on Wednesday. Legislation is needed to give effect to the recommendations, which will be submitted after the report is tabled. EVADING INCOME TAX. Dunedin, Feb. 2. Tn the Police Court, Annie Blaney wa* fined a total of £lOO on three charges of having failed to return correct income-tax returns. The prosecution stated that the Department had been deprived of £733 in three years. IDLE SEAMEN. Dunedin, Feb. 2. The dispute about the manning of the Waitomo has been settled, the company deciding to engage the same number as previously, dealing with the reduction question later. There are still about a hundred seamen, firemen, etc., without employment in Dunedin.
