Mr. J. McDavitt, who recently left Opunake, is at present in Melbourne. He returns'to New Zealand at an early date, and will practise as a solicitor in Auckland in partnership with his son Cecil.—Times.
A Carterton family had a startling experience with a motor car on Sunday. The husband, wife and three, children were in the car coming up Bideford Hill, the wife driving. 'The engine stalled, and the car stopped. The husband jumped out to restart it, and was astonished to see the ear running away from him down the hill. It swerved off the road and fell over the side of the hill, turning a somersault. The woman was considerably bruised and suffering from shook, but the children wore not hurt*
