Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with him. THE STRATFORD SHOW. FINAL RESULTS. November 24. The handsome 100 guinea silver cup donated by Messrs. Lovell and Christmas to the Stratford A. and P. Association for presentation to the winner of the most points in the Jersey section at the show was won by Mr. L. Horn, of Okau, with 46 points. Mr. H. B. Lepper, of Lepperton, was second with 29 points and Air. Frank Rauf ord, of Stratford, was third with 25 points. In the Friesian section Nathan and Company’s points’ trophy was won by G. A. Marchant and Sons, of Cardiff, with 76 points. Air. *H. E. Johnson (Tokaora) was second with .39 points and Air. V. Afarx (’Mangatoki) third with 30 points. ' The points’ results in the Ayrshire and Shorthorn sections have not yet been announced. Visitors at the show spoke apreciatively of the action of the stock breeders and dairy farmers of the district in so loyally coming forward with entries. This was the greatest contribution to the outstanding success of the show. Air. Campbell acted as assistant marshall of the grand parade, and not Air. N. Fletcher as has been stated. Much interest is being evinced in the Following are the results of the guessing competitions:— Bullock (correct weight 790£ lb). — W. Hodges, Ngatoro, 795 lb; R. Bailey, Afatapu, 796 ,1b; C. G. Trotter (Hawera/, 795 lb, all equal, share the prize. Sheep (correct weight 108jlb.).—C. H. Slater (Mata) 109 lb, 1; J. T. Scott (Ngaere) 107 i lb, 2. Pig (correct weight lb). —C. White (Puniwhakau) 243 lb; J. Richards, junr. (Cardiff) 240 lb; C. J. Crozier (Inglewood) 240 lb; F. Wellington (Tuna) 240 lb, equal, and share the prize. THE MARDI GRAS. FINALE NEXT WEEK. One week remains of the Alardi Gras carnival, the fina| being on Thursday next, which should be a red-letter day in Stratford’s history. Entries are coming in well for the many competitions in the spectacular parade, which promises to eclipse any similar effort made in Taranaki. In the parade there will be ample scope for art and originality! Meanwhile the various committees are vigorously working in the interests of their candidates, with gratifying results. On Thursday night the sports held an enjoyable little dance at the Parish Hall, and to-day they will hold an afternoon’s entertainment on th_Avon bowling green. The 8.8. committee will conduct a big fair in the old billiard room in Broadway this afternoon and evening. Produce, sweets, soft drinks, ice-cream, and many other things will be on sale. The entertainers will provide a programme of music and there will be ample room for the public to rest. Stratford Alardi Gras official ball to be held in the Town Hall on Alonday evening nex,t. It promises to be a brilliant affair. The music will be supplied by an orchestra of eight performers. Considerable interest is being aroused here in the performance of “The Messiah” at the Town Hall next Friday night. The booking opened at nine o’clock this morning and by five oclock most of the circle had been reserved. Intending patrons should book at once. The residents of Stratford and district are notified that Ernest Davies, the London qualified sight-testing optician, visits Stratford every Tuesday, and may be consulted at Mr. Gaffaney’s, Broadway. Hours: 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
