SENSATIONAL ROBBERY.

BANK VAULT BLOWN UP. THREE ■PERSONS SHOT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—-Copyright. Received Nov. 24, 10.55 p.m. New York, Nov. 23. A message from Gallatin (Missouri) reports a sensational bank robbery, which resulted in the shooting of the ■Mayor of the town, the Marshal, and another citizen, who gave battle to the robbers. Six robbers broke into the First National Bank and they were discovered by the Marshal just as their explosives were set and before the vault blew up with terrific force, destroying the safe and wrecking the building. The Marshal opened fire, whereupon he was shot down. Others were attracted by the explosion and rushed at the robbers, who, after a severe gun battle, escaped with four thousand dollars of the thirty thousand within the vault. Scores of citizens turned out and endeavored to cut off the bandits, who kept up a fusilade of shots, driving the former to cover.-—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association.
