LABOR AND FUTURE. WARS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney,. Dec. 16. The Council of Action, representing the Commonwealth has convened a panPacific Congress for delegates from Labor organisations throughout the world with a view to arriving at a common understanding to prevent future wars. The motion on the subject stated; “We do not believe the Washington Conference is likely to evolve a scheme of value for the prevention of war.” - TAR AND FEATHERS CASE, Melbourne. Dec. 16. AU the accused in the Hervey case h.t Mildura, when Hervey, editor of the local paper, was tarred and, feathered on November 2.% were acquitted of conspiracy and re-charged with assault. They pleaded guilty and. were fined £25 and sentenced to three months* imprisonment, which will be suspended on each entering into personal bonds *for good •behaviour for a year. The judge stated that it was despicable that H'ervey should, be subjected, to such treatment. There was no justification for anybody taking the law into his own bfcnds.
