THE SYDNEY FIRE.

WOOL STILL BURNING. By Telegraph.—-J’ress Assn. —Copyright. Sydney. Dec. 16. Residents on the North Shore are having an unpleasant time owing to the dense volumes of malodorous smoke from the still burning wool in the ruins of the burned stores of the Finance Asrsociation. The electric supply service has been restored. There is no clue to the cause of the fire so far. A fire brigade officer expresses the opinion that the smoke will continue for another week. The wool is stored 40 feet below the street level and the fire has worked down below the debris, making the task of fighting it difficult. Steps have been taken to permit the wool to be removed in barges so as to give the firemen a direct line of attack, otherwise the smouldering will continue for weeks, perhaps months.
