INGLEWOOD.

SUDDEN DEATH AT RUGBY ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Oct. 25. On Monday morning early Mr. William Albert Jury, of Rugby Road, near Tariki, died suddenly of heart failure. He had just brought his cows in for milking, and was in the act of hanging up bis coat in the shed when he had a seizure. Mrs. Jury, who was in the shed, heard her husband fall, and at once went to his assistance, but found that he was past all help. Much and sincere sympathy is felt in the neighborhood for the family, Mrs. Jury, her daughter and two sons, in their sudden bereavement. The late Mr. Jury was well known in the coastal districts of North Taranaki, at one time as mail contractor— New Plymouth—Opunake and then Waitara—Awakino. For a number of years he was the popular proprietor of the Masonic Livery Stables, Waitara, and about six years ago he took up his residence on the farm near Rugby Road, where his life has so suddenly ended. Since his advent in this district he has made many friends by his pleasant, genial manner and consistent good neighborliness. There is no doubt he will be seriously missed by many of his fellow settlers, both as a neighbor and as a link with the very early history of Taranaki, for the name of Jury is one on the roll of honor of the pioneers of the province. MART SALE. There were a good number of pigs for sale at Newton King, Ltd.’s mart on Saturday, and a pen of calves, to compete for which quite a concourse had gathered. The calves sold at 4s 6d for bulls and 4s to 13s for heifers. For vfeaner pigs prices ranged from 21s to 28s 6d; slips, 34s to 40s; good store pig, 60s; ducks, Is 6d; hens, 2s to 3s 3d; and geese, 2s 6d, completed the live stock sale, barring some puppies and tame rabbits. The other lots, a large assortment of very varied sundries, were sold at satisfactory rates. The auctioneer, Mr. Cutfield, announced that next Saturday’s mart sale would start at 11.30 a.m., because of the Governor’s visit in the afternoon.
