BECKETT-MeCORMACK FIGHT. ARRANGED FOR SEPTEMBER 16. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 11, 8.50 p.m. London, August 11. Beckett and McCormack have signed for a fight in London on September 10 for the heavy-weight championship. The signing on proceedings were stormy, and it is anticipated Hie fight will be a hard one,—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. London, August 9. The Dally Express says the match between Beckett and McCormack will be arranged shortly. The winner should be matched with Cook (a New Zealander), and the victor in the latter contest should have the right to ’ meet Carpentier. TO-MORROW NIGHT’S TOURNAMENT. Laurie Cadman, who is to meet Len McAsey in the big bout at Now Plymouth tomorrow night, arrived by the mail train last night, accompanied by his trainer and party. The latest account from Len McAsey’s party is that he is training on well and hopes to ' enter the ring to-morrow night at his best. It is admitted on all sides that the bout is easily’ the best yet arranged in Taranaki, and intending patrons are booking seats freely. Those who want a good seat should note that the Box plan will close at Collier's tomorrow at noon. A start was made arranging tl:e Coronation Hall yesterday, and it will be completed today. The hall is being fitted out like a theatre, and great care is being taken that everyone will get a good seat. The contestants in the welter amateur bout, Jack Willis and T. Cleary, are reported to be In good form, and this bout is being looked forward to. Willis |is ex-champion of the New Plymouth Boys’ I High School, and is a promising lad.
