The Presbyterian General Assembly defeated by 112 votes to 62 an amendment to defer further action in connection with church union for five years, but agreed by 117 votes to 40 to a postponement for two years. In deciding to defer action for two years the Assembly resolved that the (Jnion Committee should be instructed in the meantime to continue to negotiate for encouraging inter-church relationship between the negotiating bodies. •-Aus.-N.Z.
