TARANAKI DAILY NEWS. ' STRATFORD AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication should bo left at the office of the local representative, W. J. Wilson, next Union Bank. September 28. The weekly gathering of the Stratford Boys' and Girls' Mutual Improvement Society was held in the Parish Hall last evening, about 200 members being present. Mr. W. Mclnnes was chairman. A saxaphone conducted by Mr. W. A. Curteis, was greatly "ujoyed by the boys and girls. Mrs. .dcilugh, of the Public Health Department, gave a brief but interesting address on the work of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in England. An edible, competition, conducted by Mrs. F. J. Morton, was found rather a "tough" propostion, and resulted in an easy win for the boys. Items were contributed by Beg. Hollands, Neta Curteis, Kathleen Crawford, Rita Grubb, Ivy Fowler, Doris Mclnnes, Keitha Cramer, Elma Sanderson, Jim McAllister, Pei-cy Alger, Patti ChiWs, and Moira Grubb. ,

There was a good attendance of ladies at the Medina Tea Rooms last night, when a lecture for women only was delivered by Mrs. F. McHugh, an officer of the Public Health Department. The speaker dealt with many matters of importance to women.

No new sugar supplies have arrived in Stratford up to the present, and there are very few households in the town which are not sugarless. It is expected that a small supply of brown sugar will jrrive to-morrow.
