STATION HAND KILLED. Gisborne, Augusf 4. John Johanseji, a station. cook, was killed through a car skidding on a slippery road near Hangaroa. He jumped, and the car, which rolled over three tjme3 down a bank, went over on him. CAUSE OF MOST ACCIDENTS. DOCTOR'S EMPHATIC PROTEST. Christchurch, Last Night. An indignant protest against the 8 behaviour of some motorisfa was made by Dr. Fox, medical superintendent of the Christchurch hospital, to-day. "There have been several dastardly acts committed by motorists lately," he said. "I-understand there are two patients now in the hospital accident ward who were run down by motor care, Which went on without giving assistance, and now it is stated a similar thing occurred at Harwell last night, although we cannot be sure about that. Such, action is practically murderous. Roughly speaking, if it were not for motor accidents our accident ward could be closed down at times. There is very wide scope, for action by the police and the Press in regard to this matter."
