EXPORT OF COAL.
MINERS OBJECT TO THE PRICE. CHARGE AGAINST THE OWNERS. By Telecraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Jan. 11, 5-5 p.m. London, Jan. 9. The Executive of the Miners' Federation discussed the soaring prices of export coal, which was 63s in December compared with 493 in July. Whereas Sir Auckland Geddes (President of the Board of Trade) estimated the year's revenue from the export of hiuiker coal would be £01,000,000, it had been £69,000,000 for six months. The Miners' Federation decided to send a deputation to Mr. Lloyd George to demand a higher wage or a decrease in livfijng expenses. The miners accuse the owners of cutting down supplies of domestic coal in order to secure large profits from export. The miners say they will not continue to produce more coal without a higher wage unless the community benefits.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
