STEPS TO PREVENT DEPORTATION.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. ' Received Oct. 25, 6.5 p.m. London, October 23. A writ of habeas corpus was secured by Mr. Lynch OUanlon to prevent Father O'Donnell's deportation. Father O'Donnell cabled to Archbishop Mannis. and Mr, Hughes asking for their intervention. In his message, Mr Hughes declares that O'Donnell was maliciously arrested by the British Government and threatened with deportation to Australia, without a chance of vindication. Mr. Hughes added: "Ask General Birdwood to protect your rights against disgraceful injustice."
