PETROLEUM NEWS.

TARANAKI COMPANY. The manager of the Taranaki Petroleum Company despatched a further consignment of oil to Auckland yesterday as per order received. No. 2 well continues to flow as usual, and at No. 3 drilling is being continued in the same strata as last week. Excellent progress is being made with the drilling at Noi 5 well, which is now down 900 ft. The formation now being penetrated is papa. Mr. F. W. Ward, editor of the Sydney Morning Herald, and the Hon. 0. Samuel, M.L.C., and Mrs Samuel were among the visitors to the bore* yesterday.
