FIRES.
A STORE DAMAGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Monday. A flre at Kumara damaged Molloy'a store to the extent of £3OO. OUTBREAK IN WELLINGTON. Wellington, Monday., Shortly after 4 o'clock this morning a fire broke out in a house of seven rooms in Epuni street occupied by John McNaught. The flames spread rapidly from the dining-room on the ground, floor to the upper storey, where two bedrooms and their contents were badly damaged. The lower part of the house was damaged by smoke, heat and water. Mrs. McNaught, who was alone in tlm house, is in a delicate state of health, and only got out with difficulty. Her limbs were scorched, and she was suffering so much fronv shock that it was found necessary to summon a doctor. The house was owned by McNaught, a linotype operator in the New Zealand Times office, and insured in the Commercial Union for £OOO. The Norwich Union lias a risk of £IOO on the furniture.
