CRICKET.

The South Division sanior cup match, Hawera v. Stars, was concluded last Saturday, when the Stars won. The match was commenced on the preceding Saturday when Hawera, going in first made 28 runs—Essen (with 12) being the only batsman to reach double figures. Stars, with 7 wickets dowD, had made 78—McCarthy 25, Howell 25, and Jackson 10. Resuming last Saturday, the Star's innings closed for 88. Hawera in their second innings put up 86 (Pratt 40) leaving their opponents 27 to get. The Stars made a bad start, losing 3 wickets before doing so. McCarthy and Elliott, however, made a stand and obtained the runs.

Bowling: (Stars) H. Elliot, 7 for 8; Haggett, 1 for 10; and H. Elliott, 4 for 19; McOarty, 2 for 27. (Hawera): Pratt, 4 for 24; Page, 4 for 9; and Pratt, 2 for 10, were the most success-! ful bowlers.

Kaponga has formed a cricket club and has affiliated with the Association.
