A HORRIBLE MURDER.

Wellington, November 6. ; Arthur Blatch, alias Lillywhite, who has been employed in the Government service, has beon arrested on a charge of the murder of a citizen of Oolchest ir, England, whose body was found ninoi years ago among the ruins of his house which had been burned down. Accused will come before the Magistrate this afternoon. LttTEJi.
The man whom Lillywhite is alleged to have murdered was Alfred Welch, a clothier. The clmrred remains were found in the debris of the promises on the Bth of December, 1893, with a piece of stout packing cord round the neck, the jugular vein severed, and tiie skull horribly battered'. * At the inquo.it it was shown that death tpok place before the body was''dragged to the upper room where it was found, The sum of £IOO which Welch luid'bepl". in a deed box was missing, Blatch was a porter in deceased's employment, ami J disappeared from the district immediately. Accused denies he is Blatch, He has been absent from Wellington aomi mouths, and ouiy returned tour days ago. He in the vivilj service, but, has done odd jobs far tho Government.
