THE KAITANGATA TRAGEDY.

[MB PUEB3 ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, November 5,

An inquest respecting the death of Edward Edwards, who out his wife's throat and then committed suicide, was held at Kait ingata, before Mr, F. I. Poole, acting-coroner. Witnesses gave evidence that though Edwards was peculiar and had delusions, there wis nothing to indicate danger. James Edwards, a six-year-old son, said: ":I saw father put a razor strop on the end of the. mantelpiece, and out mammie's throat, then cut his own, and put the razor on the mantelshelf.' Mummy was on tha bed, and cried with baby. I was sitting up in a cot, and mummy sat on the bed till the morning." The inquest was adjourned till the 19th inst. Mrs. Edwards is progressing as favourably as the serious nature of her injuries will permit.
