The Gelf Tournament commenced at the Hokowhitu Links to-day. Tht weather was most jnpleasant, the locality being very much exposed. A sold easterly wind and incessant rail rehired the gronnd wet and sloppy Tbainatches, however, were proceeded with, and the following are the resulti of the play : Driving and Approach: N. V. Persian, 13| inches from flag, 1; J?. Harold, 8 feet 9 inches from flag, 2: O. J. Monro, 9 feat 10 inches from flag, 3; J. R. McLennan, 22 feet from ' flag, 4. The drive' was over a swamp which took 85 feet to clear, a bad drive thus being hopelessly caught. Perstor, Strang, Weduil, McLennan, S-ill, arc 1 Monro all drove welt, but Harold's ■--sJnve was by some yards the best, beiDg very long and true. Ladies' Putting: Mrs. L. A. Abraham, 1; Mrs. Wilson, 2; Mrs. 'x'urnbull,3. Men's 18 bole competion for thi - Championship: The following woi their round:—J. Harold beat C. J Monro, 9 up; &. H. -*. j NGAMOTU GOLD MATOHIS. Considerable interest is being taken in the final for the stroke competition, and the handicapping so far has proved very good indeed. The following are the results: — Miis 0. Stanford (1-6) heat Miss Dalziell (3-4) by 5 up. Miss B. Kirkby (1) beat Miss G. Stanford (scr.) by 1 up. Mr. A. Stanford (ecr) beat Mr. D. Wood (scr.) by 3 up. Mr. Cornwall (1-3) beat Mr. Elliott (1-2) by 1 up. Mr. Spencer (scr.) beat Mr. E. Bayley (2 3) by 3 up. Mr. C. Wright (1-6) beat Mr. K, L. Btanford(s-6)by2up. In the semi-final Mr. A. Stanford plays Mr. Cornwall, and Mr. Spencsr plays Mr. Wright. In the final in the combined foursomes Miss Hoskin and Dr, Walker beat Miss G. Stanford and Mr. A. Stanford by 5 up and 3 to pky, thr handicap of 4 bolts being not required _ by the winners.
