STRATFORD NEWS.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] General satisfaction was expressed at the news that the Government had de-' cided to appoint a selicitor to represent the Advances to Settlees Office in Stratford, and that Mr. W. G. Malone bad boon chosen to fill the position. The delays and difficulties that havo hampered those who wanted to get cheap money will now bo removed. A better choice than Mr. Malone could not havo been made, as he knows the district and everyone in it. I Mr. Malone has found his business so increasing that he has resigned his position as County Clerk. Ho has shepherded the County from its inception up to date. The choice of bis successor fell, as everyone expected, upon Mr. O. Penn, a brother of the popular Town Clerk. The sale of Government sections in Stratford was most successful. Though 'he day was very wet, the auction'room was crowded, and very few of the suctions were paised in. Changes in County matters are almost epidemic at present. Our worthy Chairman is resigning, and Mr. Scrivener is leaving the district. The latter, I understand, has disposed of his business at Midhirst to Mr. W. G. Oarruthers.
