BOYS LEAVE SCHOOL

Effect Of Legislation Press Association—Copyright. Napier, May 20. Interesting comment on recent legislation is m'ade by the principal of the Napier Boys’ High School, Mr. w. T. Foster, in his monthly report to the Napier Secondary Education Board. "It ig noteworthy that twenty. i :!wo boys have already left school this year.” says the report, "and of Ithete nearly half belonged to the lower school. There seems no doubt that there is a tendency on the part of boys to leave school before their course is finished This must be due in pait at least to present legislation." Except for a comment by Mr. V. Ayling that yesterday’s announcement of the raising of the school age to 15 might make some difference to this development, this portion of the report was received in silence by the board.
