SACRED HEART CONVENT.
A large number of the friends of the Sisters of the Mission and of their pupils, together with many of the out* side public, accepted the invitation of the Rev. Mother Prioress for Friday afternoon, when the year's work wag displayed. Judged by the Scriptural standard of "believing the works," the Sisters have reason to'teel pleased with the results of the year's patient teaching. In other departments—general general class work, music and commercial —the public examination results are there to teil of the successful tuition that is being imparted at the Convent. The visitors were, in turn the examiners of the fancy work--that tells of the excellence of the Convent teaching in other branches of arts and crafts, as well as in that practical side of woman's work that goes so far towards the equipping of successful homemakers. There was a refinement in evidence in all the work, that spoke very plainly of its highly educative value. The quality of painstaking care was everywhere evident, and the pupils have exhibited a responsiveness that must be most satisfactory to their cultured teachers no less than to the parents interested. Almost every department of fancy work was represented, and the work in some was of especial excellence. From among the fine asortment on view, special mention may be made of the handsome pieces of furniture elaborated by the deft hands of the poker-work pupils. The paintings were also well worth seeing. The names of Misses Monnie Windle, Miriam Ward, Thelma Durbridge, Jessie Turner, and the twin sisters 'Boese figured upon many of these specimens, and the work of these young ladies has been consistently good. The plain and fancy sewing and the millinery exhibits also did credit alike to teachers and .pupils. Altogether the Sisters have reason to feel very much pleased with the result of their patient and laborious work during the past year, while the Catholic community must feel rewarded for its effort to secure a thorough higher education f for the children.
