LADY LIVERPOOL COMMITTEE.
(From "The Colonist," Oct. 2nd.) The- monthly meeting o f the Lady Liverpool Committee was hold at the H.lj. rooms yesterday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of members.
Mrs Crawford was unanimgouslv elected president.
:_ A letter was received from the Riwaka Committee, enclosing cheque for £6 6s The treasurer (Mrs Crawford) reported that the quarterly instalment of £60 had been sent to Egypt that day; a'so £60 to the secretary of'the Dominion Regimental Fund for the quarter ended September 30th.
Jt was resolved to pack tho next fift parcels on Wednesday, October 9th at 10 a.m.
,iv letter from Major Murchison dated July 4th, was read, which contained the following;—'' Another draft of £60 has just come to hnnd, for which I must thank your committee. During the period in the excessive heat of this Valley wo have greatly benefited ■from tho additions to the Squadron Fund. ' During the month of June expenditure in extra comforts for tho men w:is- £35. These expenses were mostly on eggs, sugar, custard powder, dried _fruit, etc., which have "broughtthe state of tho. food to jv point which nullifies nil complaints. The health of the men ha'? been good, in spite of tho heat, and this has been duo to the extra Tood. Again I.take this opportunity of thanking your committee."
