INTERCESSORY SERVICES
In June last a public meeting, at- ! tended by 45 persons and presided over ■by the Mayor (Mr J. A. Wallace), was held in the Anglican Schoolroom, Motueka, to consider a proposal to hold intercessory services in connection with the war. It was unanimously decided that the services, be. held, and arrangei ments for the- carrying on of the . serivices.were left in the hands of a com- "[ mitteo appointed :by the meeting, as folj lows:—Messrs H. Buekeridge (hon. treasurer), W.Mclnnes, S. E. Hulbert, Jenkison, and W. R. Glover (hon. sec,)"The committee resolved to hold these meetings every Tuesday evening; and ithis has been done, with'the exception ]of oiie wet night, and the average at- | tendance has been about 37. The : service, which is of a purely unsectarian i character, appears to be growing both jin interest and attendance.
