ASSOCIATION

At the moo thly meeting of the Moo-" tere Fruitgrowers' Association, held at i the Jubilee Hall, Lower Moutere^ on Wednesday last, Wr R. 1\ Hudson, M.P , occupied the chair. ; After the minutes am 1 some corres- '. pondencc had been read the clxairman ; brought up the subject of the future J work oi the association, ;and the advisability or otherwise of admitting members from other parts of the district. After a lengthy discussion, in which t<o\eral resolutions were put to the : meeting and lust, the following motion, " j moved by Mr Hudson iind seconded by [Mr A. Herrick, was carried unanhnous- . Mackay and seconded by Mr ■ G. Cooper j was earned: "That this 'meeting, of fruitgrowers views with alarm the possibility of the evaporating factory :\t Port Motuekn being closed down," ?nd would respectfully point out 10 the Government that any steps to prepare for the coming season must be tafcen at once, and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Minister for Agriculture, accompanied by a 'i letter emphasising the gravity of the ■ situation." Tfc was also re^ohed, on the motion of Mr A. Herrick, reconded by Mr G. Cooper: "That his Worship ; the Mayor of -Motueka be requested to | eal! a pablic meeting in Motueka to conI sider tho future "of the evaporation of j apples in tins district." At tbc> request of the chairman, Mr Hyde, Government Orchard Instructor, who was present, then gave some, valuable information regarding spraying , matters, and replied to a, number of '.question's on the same subject.
