AUSTRALIAN RED GROSS WORK.
London, Sept. 9. The Australian Keel Cross commissioner in London reports that the August, issues of comforts in England included 1,500,000 cigarettes, 11941b of tobacco, 3219 packages of foodstuffs, and 5304 pairs of socks. The total of Australian prisoners now in Germany is 27(33, and in Turkey 122. Tie men are distributed in 65 camps m Germany, and 16 in Turkey. Those prisoners who-are kept .-near the firingline suffer hardships.. Apart from the Red (h'oss parcels their food consists of., horseflesh aiid mangolds. Xi'eut. 'Edwards, writing' from Strohen Camp, where the majority of the Australian officer -prisohtrs are stationed, says they are in good health. The Australian Red "Cross .parcels'. arrive more promptly than those of any similar institution. '
.The Australian Eed Cross is building workshops at Southall in which to teach disabled men useful trades.
