REFORM LEAGUE.

ANNUAL MEETING OF NELSON

BRANCH

The. first annual meeting of the Nelson branch of the above league was held at the Institute on Monday evening, Mr A: T. Maginrlity presiding ov>er a large attendance of members. Several apologies were received from members unavoidably absent. The retiring executive committee presented a report of: questions dealt with since the inception of the branch ; also the balanccskoeA, which disclosed a debit balance of £15. After discussion the report and balance-sheet were adopted, several speakers considering the work accomplished very satisfactory. Officers for tho ensuing year were £«&& a« follows:—President, Mr T. Noale; vice-presidents, Messrs J.- W. Harris, H. Kidson, Wilford Smith, W. Wilkin&, and Mrs C. Graham; hon. secretary, Mr A. R. Dyson ; hon. treasurer, Mr J. Houlker,;, executive committee, Messrs G. M. Rout, H. B. Walker, C. King, J. H. Cock, F.G . Gibbs, A. B. Greensla-de, F. Innes, W. W. Saodgrass, 0. Graham, W. A. Dee, G. Bush A. Wilkio, T. Brown, C. R. Fell, A. Wilkinson, J. G. Morgan, F. W. Haas©, R. B. Jackson, J. W. Brown, ami G. Bishop. la view of the annual conference of delegates of the various branches throughout tho Dominion at Wellington aext month, Messrs T. Neale and A. | E. Dyson were appointed representatives from the Nelson branch. The question of remits to the annual conference was left to the incoming executive to deal with. Tho retiring president, in vacating tiw> chair, thanked members for their cordial co-operation and assistance, MTRJch had greatly assisted him in the carrying out of the presidential duties. A vote of appreciation of the valuable services Mr Maginnity had rendered to lh& league was carried by acclamation. Mr T. Neale, president-elect, was then installed, and in a brief speech thanke<t mombeis for electing him to the important offico of president. The executive committee will meet next week, when the question of a candidate will be finally decided.
