The ail-comers' tug-of-war championship was advanced a further stage tonight in the presence of a big attendance. Two of^ the light weight teams, Enisld and "Nightcaps, rather unexpectedly defeated heavie rteams in the Bunodi'n Police and Horniorook's (Ohristchurch). The following are the results:— A section—Hoffman Bros, beat Otakeo Maoris- Nightcaps beat Dunedin Police; Springhills beat Port; Citizens (Khfield) beat Hormbrook's (Christrimrch); Taieri" beat Waterside Y\ orkevs No. 1; Telegraph No 1 beat Stevenson and Cook No. 1; Inch \ alley Wt Invorcar^ill ■ Sailing Club. J3 section: Gore won by default against Telegraph No. 2; Bevans, West Coast, t^ani'beat Speight's No. 1.
