The throe-masted scow Maroro .bound from Blackball to Sydney, went ashort. at the eastern entrance to Polorus Sound on Tuesday afternoon. Tho Anchor Company's steamer Nikau, bound from Nelson to Wellington, went to her assistance yesterday morning, and was successful 'in towing her of. The Maroro was then taken to Ketu Bay, and the Nikau proceeded to Wellington. The Maroro, which was built at Whangaroa in 1904, was owned by the United Box Packing Company, of Syd-, ney. She was a schopner-rigged scow of 200 tens gross register. After un'.oading a. cargo of Newcastle coal, the Maroro kit Nelson on Juno sth for Blackball, where she loaded 250,000 feet of timber for Sydney. The damago dono to the vessel was slight.
