The funeral of the late Mrs. Henry Brooks took plaeo on Monday. The vicar, the Rev. J. R. Dart, took the •service. Many friends and relatives were present.

The Harmonic Society held its second practice on Tuesday, 'it is a pity all the members do not attend.

Mrs. Eves, of Pigeon Valley, an old resident of Wake-field, has had a serious illness, and is still in a precarious state of health. At present she is undergoing treatment in Dr Johnston's private, hospital (Nelson). Mr. Keith Wells, who is at tho same place, maintains his previous condition.
