Tho weekly meeting o f the Literary and Dobating Society was held in the school room on Thursday evening last, 29th inst. Mr. Lou. Hou't occupied the chair, and thero wary, o, good * attendance. The busin-c.'jf; of the eve:im.<>was prepared speeches o:i tho follow in" subjects, "To-urkt Resorts of New Zealand," "Tho Massey Government" "Antarctic Exploration," "Medical Examination of School Children.'' "Tho Responsibilities of Wealth," "Science " and "The Suffragettes." Most of the speeches were mp.de interesting and instructive, and wer<?< keenly criticised. At the next meeting the subject will bo a debate on th? question: "That tho Destruction of the 'Nntivo Bush in Detrimental to New Zealand." Mr Hor^ n? r wilL opon fnr tllo affirmative, and Mr. I. TunmViffo for the negative. A most enjoyable evening was. spent md no doubt the next evening will also so" a good number present, as this is the first dobot-p- on th> syllabus.
