In Victoria the Labour group are ahead, Mr Russell with 160,093, Mr Barnos with J 56,2-76 -and Mr. McEissick with 155,809, the nearest Liberal being Dr Salmon, with 146,751.

In Queensland also Labour is ahead, Mr Maughan having 25,964 votes, Mr Mullen 24,565, and Mr Fcrricks 24,----506, the nearest Liberal being Mr Chataway, with 21,362..

In South .Australia Lnbcur load-;, Mr Newland having M'.OVi votes, Mr O'Loughlin 42.0-13. aixi Mr Senior 41,----404. Tho nearest Liberal is Mr Vtirdon, with IM).31O. Kir loriah Symon, an independent, is a bad last.

In West Au.nr.Jia Labour leads, the Hon. G. F. }\-a:i-v h::\ing 24,996 votes, Mr Lynch 24.138, m:rl Mr Needham 24,116. The nearest Liberal is Mr Butcher, with 18,587.

In Tasmania the Liberals are in the load, Mr Bakhap with 24,631 votes, Mr Keating with 24,605, and Mr Clemens with 24,507, the nearest Labour candidate being Mr Guy, with 23,220.

The referenda returns have barely been touched, and are too meagre to give any indication. .In New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and West Australia "Yes" is leading. In Victoria the "Noes" have a .slight leadj and in Tasmania a strong lead.
